Objectives of the Course
To generalize the use of information technologies, to increase computer literacy, to become experienced about operating system , word processing, spreadsheets, preparing presentation and using internet.

The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Be able to describe basic concepts about the information technologies. PO-1 An ability to apply knowledge of basic engineering sciences and earth sciences for the solution of geophysical engineering problems.

Course Contents
To teach of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Introduction to hardware and software which two main components information and communication technologies. Explanation of computer types in the hardware component. Multi-media and peripherals. Communication model concept. Methods in communication technologies and introduction hardware elements. Introduction of software types in component software (System software, programming software and application software). Giving information to basic operating systems. Introduction to the concepts of the GNU and the GPL. The foundation of the Linux Operating System. File system. Structure and common commands. Linux operating system. Programming and programming languages. Computer science network structure and types. Network protocols used in Linux Operating System. Linux Operating System. Remote access concept.
