Objectives of the Course
introduce students to the major theories, institutions and issues in international political economy. Help students gain an insight on how political forces influence markets, and how market forces influence politics. build up an understanding of the relationship between the state, economic policy-making and the economy.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 comprehend how the major components of the international economy such as multilateral trade, domestic trade policy, international finance and currency policy function. PO-1 Gains the theoretical background of Public Administration and Public Policy,
LO-2 will be able to evaluate the the major theoretical perspectives on political economy, such as mercantilism, liberalism, Marxism and statism. PO-7 Analyze elements of political and administrative systems and design institutional systems based on these elements; have the ability to activate the process of decision making and co-ordination mechanisms which are effective in the process of institutionalization,
LO-3 have an idea about the relationship between the state, economic policy-making and the economy. PO-6 Gains the ability to follow national and international political developments,
LO-4 will be able to understand how political forces influence markets, and how market forces influence politics. PO-3 Gains knowledge about management types such as strategic management, crisis management and risk management,

Course Contents
Major theoretical perspectives on political economy, such as mercantilism, liberalism, Marxism and statism. Major components of the international economy such as multilateral trade, domestic trade policy, international finance and currency policy. Major issues in international political economy such as the gap between the developed and developing world, the globalized economy, the role of transnational corporations, the political economies of oil, migration, food, or the environment. History of Turkish political economy.
