Objectives of the Course
To understand the emergence of journalism practice and institutionalization process as a profession within the socio-economic context and to provide a critical approach to journalistic practices.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Students will be able to explain the basic concepts of journalism PO-2 Students will be able to describe the concepts, thoughts, cases and problems related to the field and perceive them as multi-dimensional.
PO-7 Students will be able to know the change and development processes of media from past to present and transfer what they know to current problems.
PO-13 Describes how to visual communication of meaning and signification.
PO-20 Develop the strategies that define the media, communication and art processes as theoretically.

Course Contents
In addition to the basic concepts related to journalism such as newspapers, journalists and news; role and importance of journalism in society, types of newspapers and journalism, basic principles and duties of journalists, news concept, news values, elements of news, basic principles of journalism, concept of public opinion, ethics and ethics in journalism.
