Objectives of the Course | |||||
This course offers a basic introduction to terrorism and political violence: the history of terrorism, how it functions, the ideology of those groups currently posing the greatest threat to the US, challenges posed by various approaches to countering the threat of terrorism, and so forth. Terrorism is no longer?and indeed has never been?a foreign problem. This course also offers a variety of conceptual tools and frameworks to help future officers and citizens think strategically about key issues in the contemporary security environment. |

PO-1 Has knowledge of basic research methods and principles in Social Sciences at a level to conduct independent research. PO-3 Has basic information about the main actors of international relations and the rules of the international system. PO-4 Has a command of the basic concepts in the fields of history, sociology, economics and law at a level to do interdisciplinary work. PO-7 Has the ability to both interpret events with critical and analytical thinking and to produce solutions to problems with scientific approaches. PO-8 Has the knowledge of computer software and hardware required by the field of International Relations. |
