Objectives of the Course | |||||
This course is designed to introduce students to the literature on Turkish foreign policy towards the Middle East.. Course aims to talk about a number of major issues in Turkish foreign policy in the Middle East. |

LO-1 | The student can fully understand the importance of the Middle East politics and its place on Turkish foreign policy |
PO-3 Has basic information about the main actors of international relations and the rules of the international system. PO-4 Has a command of the basic concepts in the fields of history, sociology, economics and law at a level to do interdisciplinary work. PO-6 Has the skills to analyse theoretical knowledge about International Relations and its sub-branches (international economy, international politics, international law, international organizations, international security, history of diplomacy, foreign policy, etc.) and to evaluate their global and regional reflections, to define problems and to offer solutions. PO-7 Has the ability to both interpret events with critical and analytical thinking and to produce solutions to problems with scientific approaches. PO-9 Has acquired the skills to examine Turkey's position in world politics in a historical perspective and to define current problems. PO-10 Has a command of the basic conceptual and theoretical framework in the field of International Relations at a level to make analysis. PO-11 Can determine needs for learning and direct the learning process by critically evaluating the knowledge and skills acquired in the field of International Relations. PO-13 Has the competence to evaluate and apply the knowledge, skills and competencies acquired during the education process in business life. PO-16 Gains detailed information about culture and geography as well as the history of Turkey and the world. |

PO-2 Has sufficient knowledge and awareness about globalization and intercultural communication, human rights, social justice and respect for differences. Course Contents | ||
Turkish foreign policy within the context of domestic, regional, and international dynamics will be discussed. This course will start with the geographical definition the Middle East, and then look at the historical dynamics that have been shaped the Middle East during the 20th century. Then, the course will focus on the relationship between Turkey and the Middle East from the historical perspective. Finally, the course will discuss recent developments in the Turkish foreign policy and Middle East. | ||
