Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to provide information about disasters and disaster management.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Explains the concepts of disaster and disaster management PO-2 Uses information and information resources related to the field effectively.
PO-9 Uses knowledge and skills, which he or she evaluates with a critical approach, to solve the problems he or she encounters in the his or her field and social life as an effective citizen who makes well reasoned decisions.
Examination
LO-2 Uses disaster education examples in education processes. PO-1 Uses teaching strategies, methods and techniques, assessment and evaluation instruments, taking into account the learning outcomes, by adapting them to student development characteristics, individual differences and needs.
PO-22 Becomes a qualified instructor; joins the society as a well being social studies teacher, open to innovations, change and development, ready for the world of tomorrow.
Examination
LO-3 Evaluates what to do before, during and after disasters. PO-2 Uses information and information resources related to the field effectively.
PO-7 Acts in accordance with national and universal sensitivities expressed in the Basic Law of National Education, democracy, human rights, social, scientific and professional ethical values.

Course Contents
Disaster and risk concepts; reduction of disasters, risks and damages; disaster education and its importance; disaster preparedness, disaster response, disaster recovery; natural and human disasters; the effects of disasters on sustainable development; climate change and meteorological disasters; Efforts to reduce disaster damage in Turkey and in the world; earthquake regulation, effectiveness in disaster management; disaster management cycle, disaster terminology; coordination in disaster management, emergency and disaster coordination centers; ethical values in disaster management, project presentations.
