Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to gain the skill of reading material works related to Alevi-Bektashism and using the Ottoman Alphabet in their writing. In order to be able to read, understand and write the manuscripts, to give basic information such as the Arabic alphabet used in Ottoman Turkish, the way letters are written and combined, grammar and spelling rules, the spelling of suffixes and word roots, and to be able to read the primary sources of the Alevi-Bektashi belief system from the original in line with this information.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Can learn about the Arabic alphabet used in Ottoman Turkish and the history and development of this alphabet. PO-1 Have basic and general knowledge about the field/discipline.
PO-7 Can communicate critically at a professional level by using verbal and written communication opportunities in the related field or with other segments of the society.
Examination
LO-2 Can read and interpret the primary sources of Alevi-Bektashi belief system from the original. PO-6 Have a high level of knowledge about the concepts and methods in the field of Alevi Bektashi Culture and can approach the problems in this field in a methodological and analytical way and offer solutions.
PO-9 Performs compilation, observation and survey studies in the field.
PO-10 Learns the main concepts, theories and practices of Alevi Bektashi Culture.
Examination
LO-3 Learns about the written language of the works of different periods and can read and explain these works. PO-12 Supports the universality of social and cultural rights in the field of humanities, gains awareness of social justice, and protects historical and cultural heritage.
PO-15 He/She develops and deepens the knowledge she has in the field of Alevi Bektashi Culture and related disciplines at the level of expertise.

Course Contents
In order to understand the foundation and culture of a belief system, it is necessary to be able to read and understand the works written within the framework of that belief. The way to read these works is to take into account the language and writing styles of the period and make studies. In this context, this course covers studies to read, analyze and understand the manuscripts of the Alevi-Bektashi belief system.
