Objectives of the Course
The objective of this course is to provide basic, but necessary information about the basic concepts used in earthquake-resistant building design for structural engineers.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Attendees will have fundamental information about what earthquake is and earthquake-resistant building design. PO-1 To be able to reach the theoretical and practical knowledge by doing scientific research in the field of Civil Engineering and to be able to use the obtained knowledge.
PO-2 To be able to carry out studies in the field of Civil Engineering, to be able to select and apply appropriate methods or methods for the purpose.
Examination
LO-2 Attendees will have information about the types of load-bearing systems and their irregularities in the earthquake code like the Turkish Earthquake Building Code. PO-1 To be able to reach the theoretical and practical knowledge by doing scientific research in the field of Civil Engineering and to be able to use the obtained knowledge.
PO-2 To be able to carry out studies in the field of Civil Engineering, to be able to select and apply appropriate methods or methods for the purpose.
Examination
LO-3 Attendees will have knowledge about the concept of capacity in a structural element in reinforced concrete structures. PO-1 To be able to reach the theoretical and practical knowledge by doing scientific research in the field of Civil Engineering and to be able to use the obtained knowledge.
PO-2 To be able to carry out studies in the field of Civil Engineering, to be able to select and apply appropriate methods or methods for the purpose.
PO-5 Identifies the needs for solving a problem and develops and implements related processes.
PO-10 Uses information and communication technologies together with computer software or programmes at a level to meet the requirements related to the field.

Course Contents
Within the scope of this course; It is aimed to provide students with skills such as the formation of earthquakes, their intensity, magnitude, the effects of earthquakes on structures, the basic principles of structural dynamics used, and the analysis methods used in earthquake engineering.
