Analyze basic isolated topologies used in switching power supplies, model these circuits, and design them for a specific power value. |
PO-1 Conducting scientific research on subjects specific to the Electrical and Electronics Engineering discipline, interpreting this information and gaining application skills. PO-2 Ability to develop, select and use modern techniques and tools required for the analysis and solution of complex problems encountered in engineering applications; has the ability to use information technologies effectively. PO-6 Uses existing methods and devices in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering according to standards, designs experiments, conducts experiments, collects data, analyzes and interprets the results.

Course Contents |
General structure of SMPSs. Analysis and design of converter topologies commonly used in SMPSs: Flyback, forward, push-pull, dual forward, half-bridge and full bridge isolated DC/DC converter circuits; Resonant mode power supply topologies. Input stage design and power factor optimization. Design of magnetic elements. Small-signal modeling of converters and controller design. Voltage and current based controllers; Paralleling and current sharing. Electromagnetic interference and suppression methods. Protection of Semiconductor Devices and Circuits: Heatsinks; Suppressors; Current protection; Thermal management. Measurement: Current, voltage, temperature measuring circuits and insulation. Gate circuits. |
