Objectives of the Course
To explain to students Turkey'sposition within geological units.To transfer Turkey's properties of stratigraphy and lithology of according to the main geological regions.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Be able to discuss on Turkey's geological development. PO-12 The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.
Examination
LO-2 Be able to define geological structures in Türkey and their developings. PO-1 An ability to apply knowledge of basic engineering sciences and earth sciences for the solution of geophysical engineering problems.
PO-6 An ability to interpret the processed data by using multidisciplinary approach.
PO-7 Have the students gain knowledge in exploration of natural resources such as mines, oil and natural gas, rare earth materials and industrial raw materials.
Examination
LO-3 Be able to interpret to geological processes that are effective in Turkey. PO-8 Have the students gain knowledge in site investigation of the environmental and archaeological problems, and designing solutions to the engineering problems in terms of natural hazard risk assessments in particular infrastructure needs of the society.
PO-9 An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
PO-11 An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility.

The concept of plate tectonics, geological time schedule, geological structure and position of Turkey on earth, massive concept and metamorphic massives in Turkey, overview of Turkey paleozoyic, mesozoic formations in Turkey, ophiolite concept and distribution of ophiolites in Turkey, magnetism in Turkey geology, orogenic events in Turkey geology and tectonic solidarities, large fault system and seismiciy caused by connected with these in Turkey, evolution paleoectonic and neotectonics of Turkey.
