Objectives of the Course
To have prospective teachers who has a high level of awareness about human rights and democracy education, have courage of taking responsibility also knows definition and historical development of human rights and democracy, democracy, the concepts of freedom, democracy and equality, different understanding of democracy, democratic culture in school and family,democratic citizenship, rights and freedoms, children and women's rights, national and international regulations on human rights,(The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights, Children's Rights Convention and so on.)fundamental problems in the field of human rights,

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 To have the knowledge of historical development of the concept of human rights and democracy PO-3 To satisfy the needs of students ability to recognise concepts and relationship between concepts related to the field.

LO-2 To get to democracy culture and to be aware of individual cability in school, home and social environment for survival of this culture. PO-2 Have knowledge about evaluating limits accuracy, reliability and validity from nature of the source of information.

LO-3 To have knowledge of the international and national regulations on rights and freedoms. PO-23 Has national and universal sensitivities mentioned National Education Law.

LO-4 Consciously can evaluate the Press and other sources on human rights violations (Such as official website of the Ministry of Justice) PO-4 Ability to explain aims, principles, vision, mission, structure and functioning of Turkish education system, classroom management approaches and concepts related to education.

Course Contents
Definition and historical development of human rights and democracy; the terms of democracy, freedom, equality, different understandings of democracy, democratic culture, democracy in school and in the family, democratic citizenship, rights and freedoms, Children and women's rights, national and international regulations on human rights( The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights, Children's Rights Convention and so on.), fundamental problems in the field of human rights, human rights and democracy education
