The aim of this course is to help student teachers to comprehend the basic concepts about special education and help the to gain knowledge and skills in knowing the characteristics of special education children and designing teaching activities for children with special education needs |

Course Contents | ||
Definition of special education, basic principles related to special education, the reasons of disability, the importance of early diagnosis and therapy. Historical approach to disability, the characteristics and the education of children having mental disability, deafness, blindness, physical disability, who stutters learning disability (dyslexia) , attention deficiency and hyperactive, autistic and mentally gifted. The education of the children needs special education via play, reactions of disabled children?s families, the situation of special education in Turkey and the special institutions established to serve this aim. | ||
