Objectives of the Course
To determine the location of Turkish in history, to inform students about the earliest periods of Turkish, to be able to compare phonetic and morphological information between historical periods of Turkish language and contemporary Turkish dialects.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 (Students) are able to determine the location of Turkish in world languages PO-3 Knowing language concept in every aspect, recognizing methods and disciplines (linguistics, grammar, philology) of the language, and can to examine Turkish language by contemporary linguistics data.
Examination
LO-2 (Students) are able to determine the location of Turkish in history. PO-1 Identifying Turkology concept, and explaining its features and historical development.
PO-5 Knowing chronologically and, with works, of history of Turkish language, and its periods from the first written documents to the emergence of contemporary Turkic dialects and to their present-day situation.
Examination
LO-3 (Students) are able to obtain information about the earliest periods of Turkish and the Works belong to the periods. PO-5 Knowing chronologically and, with works, of history of Turkish language, and its periods from the first written documents to the emergence of contemporary Turkic dialects and to their present-day situation.
Examination
LO-4 (Students) are able to know the actual issues of Turkish with their historical origins and are able to be active implementer on keys of the situation PO-1 Identifying Turkology concept, and explaining its features and historical development.
PO-13 Following developments with regard to his/her field, determining problems, gathering necessary data for solving these problems, interpreting results according to these data, and making contribution to occupational subjects by sharing studies which he/she did with the relevant persons, institutions and organizations, when required.
PO-14 Apply the theoretical and practical knowledge that they have gathered in education, training and research to the benefit of the society.

Course Contents
Methods and resources in studies of historical language, language-history relationship, the problems encountered in studies of Turkish history, the socialization, agreement-communication, transmitting culture function of language; the stratification of languages; the classification of languages, the location of Turkish in world languages; the trials of historical classification tarihî, the historical periods of Turkish, the variations and developments of Turkish as these periods.
