Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is for students to gain a general understanding of the psychological counseling and guidance services provided in schools, to acquire knowledge and skills in this area, and to gain preliminary preparation for application based on what they have learned.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Knows the basic concepts and principles of psychological counseling and guidance. PO-2 Explains the knowledge about the theories, approaches and basic concepts of psychological counseling and guidance.
Examination
LO-2 Explains the historical development of psychological counseling and guidance. PO-2 Explains the knowledge about the theories, approaches and basic concepts of psychological counseling and guidance.
PO-3 Explains the knowledge about the services, restraints and the associations with the other disciplines of the psychological counseling and guidance.
Examination
LO-3 Comprehend the 21st century counselor competencies. PO-13 Evaluates his/her vocational qualifications, realizes the restraints, plans and applies how to develop him/herself for the vocational development.
PO-18 Follows the current information, sources, up-to-dates, conferences, seminars, workshops and activities. Plans and rules similar works accordingly.

Course Contents
Basic concepts and principles of psychological counseling and guidance, the history, field and branches of psychological counseling and guidance; research and evaluation methods used, counseling process, counseling theories, school counseling models (traditional and developmental), school counseling approaches (crisis-oriented, remedial, preventive and developmental), the purpose and principles of the traditional school counseling model, the traditional school the role and functions of the psychological counselor, the purpose, principles and program of the developmental school counseling model (Comprehensive Developmental Guidance Program), basic services/interventions and the roles and functions of the developmental school counselor; purpose and principles of developmental and preventive approach in psychological counseling and guidance, importance of life skills training in developmental approach, positive youth development approaches and prevention levels in preventive approach (basic, second and third level).
