Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to give students an objective perspective on Europe. The course does not have an approach of introducing “European” countries one by one descriptively. As a culture center that shapes the world, the historical and geographical foundations of the Western world will be discussed and different definitions of "Europe" will be emphasized. What are the values and understanding that make Europe "Europe" as a cultural region? How and where has European culture spread? Can we talk about a common Europe today? Based on the questions as Turkey's "European" is on the map it will also be discussed in the light of different criteria.
