Objectives of the Course
.This course aims to provide an introduction to the properties of waters. These consist of surface waters (rivers and lakes), groundwater and springs, and oceans and seas. The first part of the course includes the hydrological cycle in which the atmospheric, soil surface, shallow sub-surface processes are emphasized: Earth's water and energy balance, global climate and energy budget, precipitation mechanisms, infiltration and vados belt, evapotranspiration, open channel hydraulics, grabbing. hydrology, fluvial textures, river regimes, floods and drought etc., and origin and hydrology of lakes, hydrological mechanism of lakes. The second part of the course consists of the fundamentals of groundwater hydrology. Aquifer parameters, constant and transient flow balance, source hydraulics, multi-stage flow, groundwater accumulation, basin hydrology, geological effect on groundwater flow, resource structure and groundwater chemistry and pollution. Also, as part of groundwater, resources are also covered during the lesson. The third part consists of the geology and geomorphology of oceans and seas, their physical and chemical properties, and current systems.
