Objectives of the Course
At the end of the course, students will learn definition and importance of play and effects of play on social, emotional, psycho motor, and physical, cognitive, language, personality, moral and sexual development of children , phases and kinds of play, play areas and different kinds of toys, tools and materials, general principles of teaching play, theories related with play development, play and toys for handicapped and ill children staying in hospital, using play for therapy and diagnose for children

Course Contents
Definition of Play, Effects of Play on Developmental Areas: Social, emotional, psycho motor, and physical, cognitive, language, personality, moral and sexual development ;Phases of Play Development and Kinds of Play: Solitary play, parallel play, associative play , cooperative play , different points of view in defining kinds of play and properties of play areas, toys, tools and materials for children;Principles of Teaching Play: Planning, instruction, properties of instruction and methods, practice, evaluation ;Opinions of Early Theoreticians on Play Development: Heckhausen,Berlyne, Axline, Ericson, Piaget,Lazarus, Helenko and Freud;Play Therapy: Play therapy, making environment arrangement and planning for play for handicapped and ill children
