Objectives of the Course
In this course, introduction to the field of Sociology of Aging and the basic theories of this field will be taught. It is aimed to recognize the psycho-social aspects of old age and to know social life in old age. It is also aimed to learn social work with the elderly, both individually and with the group.

The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 To describe main concept about aging sociology PO-1 1. Can understand the basic concepts regarding the sociology programs.
PO-2 2.Can transfer and adapt what they have acquired in the field of Sociology to other disciplines.

Course Contents
Aging and society course includes the basic concepts of aging sociology and the main reasons of the aging of the population. In this course are discussed aging theories and aging policies. In this course, which deals with the social aspects of aging, is also explained successful aging and active aging. The issues of elderly discrimination and elder abuse are also covered by this course.
