Objectives of the Course |
ntroduce students to the major theories, institutions and issues in international political economy. Help students gain an insight on how political forces influence markets, and how market forces influence politics. build up an understanding of the relationship between the state, economic policy-making and the economy. |

Be able to compare the differences between the Neoclassical macroeconomics and Keynesian macroeconomics. |
PO-1 acquire intellectual infrastructure, which is necessary to make further research in the field of international relations. PO-17 have information about basic economic topics and indicators.

Be able to compare macroeconomic implications of several policy applications. |

PO-12 become skilful at maths, econometrics and statistics, making more effective decisions with econometric and statistical analysis. Furthermore, they are capable of predicting the outcomes of these decisions and interpreting the cause and effect relation.

Be able to explain the role of monetary and fiscal policy in the economy. |

Course Contents |
Major theoretical perspectives on political economy, such as mercantilism, liberalism, Marxism and statism. Major components of the international economy such as multilateral trade, domestic trade policy, international finance and currency policy. Major issues in international political economy such as the gap between the developed and developing world, the globalized economy, the role of transnational corporations, the political economies of oil, migration, food, or the environment. History of Turkish political economy. |
