Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to explain the physical, cognitive, social and emotional changes specific to each developmental period between fertilisation and death.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Can explain the basic theories and research methods of developmental psychology. PO-1 Knows the basic concepts related to psychology.
Examination
LO-2 Can describe detailed knowledge of the learning, remembering and conceptualizing processes of individuals in the early stages of life PO-1 Knows the basic concepts related to psychology.
PO-3 Identifies, models and solves scientific problems in psychology and related fields.

LO-3 Can explain the current views of cognitive changes in childhood and summarise language development PO-1 Knows the basic concepts related to psychology.
PO-2 Adapts and transfers the knowledge they have acquired in the field of psychology to other disciplines

LO-4 Can describe the normal developmental in various stages; can demonstrate information competence at listing characteristics of handicapped/gifted individuals. PO-4 Is equipped with sufficient skills in the field of psychology, adhere to the principles of professional ethics, develop communication skills, gain productive and flexible thinking skills.
PO-3 Identifies, models and solves scientific problems in psychology and related fields.
PO-11 Uses their knowledge of human health and environmental awareness for the benefit of the community.

LO-5 Can explain the interactions between the socio-cultural context (parents, peers, cohorts) and the individual’s physical, cognitive and personality development. PO-4 Is equipped with sufficient skills in the field of psychology, adhere to the principles of professional ethics, develop communication skills, gain productive and flexible thinking skills.
PO-9 Has awareness of individual and cultural differences that can incorporate different perspectives into the process of producing scientific knowledge.

Course Contents
This course provides information about the introduction of the field of developmental psychology, its theories, research methods, biological foundations of development, perceptual, cognitive, emotional and social processes that reveal the changes observed in behavior in the stages of life up to the end of childhood, the effects of the environment such as culture, family and school on the individual and atypical development.
