Objectives of the Course
The aim of the course is to teach students the development and functioning of the Turkish economy's social, political and economic institutions and global economic relations since the beginning of the 20th century.

Course Contents
Economic history before Ottoman Empire; economic changes in Western Europe, Fundamentals of Ottoman economic regime, Capitalism and first sectors of Ottoman economy, The economic structure from the last periods of Ottoman Empire to Republic of Turkey. Establishing time period of Republic of Turkey. Etatism period. World War II period. Social transformation period. Planned development period. The time period between 1960 – 1980. Structural economic transformation period in the 1980s. The time periods of the 1990s. Adjustment tendencies with regard to economic sectors. The role of government in the economy. The role of Turkish economy in the world economy. Economic indicators in Turkey.
