Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge and skills in working with family and children.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 can comprehend the place and importance of family in society. PO-1 Explains the basics of social work as well as the framework and field of study of social work.
PO-4 Evaluates the developments with a critical view by using the theoretical knowledge in the field.

Course Contents
This course includes the concept of family, family types and functions, family structure, family life cycle and developmental characteristics, familial relations and communication (spous and parent relations), marriage system, family theories, problems brought about by change in the family: Migration, poverty, unemployment, urbanization; It covers topics such as divorced, single-parent and broken families, abuse and violence in the family, family policies, child policies and child services in Turkey, and social work practice with family and children.
