Objectives of the Course | |||||
The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge and skills about the post-traumatic psychological counseling process, its principles and techniques, the positive and negative effects of trauma, and appropriate intervention methods. |

PO-6 Supplies group or individual psychological counseling services, in the fields of vocational, individual and social, to the different age ranges and target audience, according to the needs. PO-10 Carries out crisis intervention and preventive counseling services. PO-29 Gains awareness about normal and abnormal behaviors and the dynamics of the behaviors of indivuals. PO-32 Provides services in a way that integrates cognitive, behavioral, emotional, cultural and spiritual dimensions in the counseling process with individuals and groups. |

Definition, scope and types of trauma (natural disasters, man-made traumas, proxy trauma, secondary trauma etc.); reactions that can be seen in children, adolescents and adults after trauma and the factors affecting them, individual, familial and social consequences of trauma, possible psychological disorders caused by trauma (post-traumatic stress disorder, acute stress disorder, etc.); approaches and intervention methods to prevent the negative effects of trauma in humans; qualifications and competencies of the counselor who will work with traumatized people. | ||
