Objectives of the Course
The main aim of this lesson is to introduce the theories of translation. Moreover, discussion about how to turn the theories of translation in practice is included in the lesson. The issues of translation in Turkey and in the World are scrutinized as well.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Can analyze the basic concepts, principles and theories of translation studies in a historical process. PO-3 To have problem solving skills to compete with the problems due to the cultural and lingual differences
PO-4 To be able to think analiytically
PO-7 To specialise either in translation or interpretation
PO-8 To have a self awareness about the importance of the field for contemporary world and the role and identity of the translator/interpreter as an intercultural expert
PO-9 To have competence to use the latest translation and interpreting technology
PO-10 To be able to translate at least two languages and be able to read, understand, analyze and translate basic texts in a third language
PO-13 To have the abilities to orientate and transform the expectations of the sector
PO-15 To be able to have knowledge of the terminology of various fields (Science, Social and Health Sciences etc.) and being able to use second foreign language and English both as a source and a target language
PO-16 To be able to identify the problems that may be encountered in the translation process and developing appropriate strategies to overcome these problems
