Objectives of the Course
The main purpose of the course is to obtain knowledge and training of the various language characteristics, concepts, information in field of social sciences, and their implications for translation (in terms of cultural differences, content, word choice, text function, syntactic patterns, information structure, etc.). Objective of the course could be described as such: To familiarize the students with the proprietary use of language in various areas of social sciences and business administration, as well as providing them with a sound knowledge of relevant jargon & terminology.

LO-2 Can use terminology in different social science fields thanks to translation studies PO-8 To have a self awareness about the importance of the field for contemporary world and the role and identity of the translator/interpreter as an intercultural expert
PO-15 To be able to have knowledge of the terminology of various fields (Science, Social and Health Sciences etc.) and being able to use second foreign language and English both as a source and a target language
PO-16 To be able to identify the problems that may be encountered in the translation process and developing appropriate strategies to overcome these problems

Course Contents
This course covers terminology and translation work practices in different fields and subjects of social sciences, especially psychology, sociology, archeology, anthropology, mythology and philosophy.
