Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to enhance the students’ awareness of their native language and of other languages they work with; to have the students actively transfer said awareness to their translational activities. The relationship between translation and language; the historical and linguistic position of the Turkish language within said relationship; the idea of ‘the translator of Turkish;’ the concept of terminology, and the classification of text types; stylistic and thematic aspects in textual analysis; analysis and translation of certain Turkish and English texts are the topics that will be covered in this course.
