Objectives of the Course
This course aims to improve students’ pre-skills through different translation exercises by introducing the main concepts about audio-visual translation. At the end of this course, students are expected to have idea about subtitles, dubbing, vocalizing processes. Moreover, students will be able to analyse the texts by working on audio-visual sources, and produce translation texts related to them. They will also have idea about the demand in TV and cinema industry, and will have technical equipment to do translation.

The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 can learn subtitle, dubbing, voiceover processes PO-8 To have a self awareness about the importance of the field for contemporary world and the role and identity of the translator/interpreter as an intercultural expert
PO-9 To have competence to use the latest translation and interpreting technology
PO-16 To be able to identify the problems that may be encountered in the translation process and developing appropriate strategies to overcome these problems
Examination
LO-2 will be able to analyze texts by working on different types of audio-visual sources and produce translations suitable for them. PO-1 To be able to make interdisciplinary research within the field
PO-8 To have a self awareness about the importance of the field for contemporary world and the role and identity of the translator/interpreter as an intercultural expert
PO-9 To have competence to use the latest translation and interpreting technology
PO-10 To be able to translate at least two languages and be able to read, understand, analyze and translate basic texts in a third language
PO-12 To easily be attuned to the current changes in the sector
PO-15 To be able to have knowledge of the terminology of various fields (Science, Social and Health Sciences etc.) and being able to use second foreign language and English both as a source and a target language
