Objectives of the Course | |||||
The goal of this course is to equip the students with basic skills for simultaneous interpreting, to make them familiar with working in the booth, to improve them to a level where they can interpret from Turkish into English and from English into Turkish. |

LO-1 | develops basic skills, terminology and knowledge about the relevant fields for simultaneous interpreting. |
PO-1 To be able to make interdisciplinary research within the field PO-4 To be able to think analiytically PO-6 To be able to provide cooperation with the related sectors PO-7 To specialise either in translation or interpretation PO-8 To have a self awareness about the importance of the field for contemporary world and the role and identity of the translator/interpreter as an intercultural expert PO-9 To have competence to use the latest translation and interpreting technology PO-11 To have efficent elocation, diction and self expression skills for a sufficient use of language PO-12 To easily be attuned to the current changes in the sector PO-13 To have the abilities to orientate and transform the expectations of the sector PO-14 To have a wide knowledge of terminologies of specific fields in both languages PO-15 To be able to have knowledge of the terminology of various fields (Science, Social and Health Sciences etc.) and being able to use second foreign language and English both as a source and a target language PO-16 To be able to identify the problems that may be encountered in the translation process and developing appropriate strategies to overcome these problems |
