Objectives of the Course | |||||
This course aims to develop students' listening skills and understanding. In this course, it is aimed not only to enhance listening skills, but also to improve speaking skills in addition to stress and pronunciation in order to increase students' knowledge on various subjects in education and language teaching. Analyzing authentic listening materials and speech phrases taken from different contexts, phonological transcription of sound differences and problematic sounds, and acquiring high-level listening skills are among the main objectives. |

Analyzing authentic listening materials and speech samples used in different discourses; basic listening and phonetic skills such as discriminating minimal pairs and formulating phonetic transcriptions of problematic sounds; higher level listening skills and strategies; the fundamentals of listening and phonetics namely vowels, consonants, stress in words, rhythm and intonation as well as the usage of phonetic alphabet for learning and production. | ||
