Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to teach students the basic concepts, conservation and management principles, international standards, practices and problems related to world heritage sites. This course will help students understand current debates and issues related to the conservation and management of world heritage sites.

LO-1 can have knowledge about the definition and conservation principles of world heritage sites. PO-2 Have an understanding of the structure of the tourism industry, how it functions, and its significance for the development of the country.
PO-5 Have detailed knowledge of World and Turkey’s geography.
PO-7 Describe, synthesize, analyze, interpret and evaluate data and information professionally.

Course Contents
This course covers the basic concepts, conservation and management principles, practices and problems related to world heritage sites. This syllabus covers topics such as introduction to world heritage sites, cultural heritage, natural heritage and mixed heritage conservation, sustainable tourism, management plans, local people and participation, risks and threats, monitoring and evaluation, innovative approaches and social justice. This syllabus will help students acquire an in-depth knowledge of world heritage sites and their conservation and management.
