Objectives of the Course | |||||
The aim of this course is to give the students a general idea of the most important literary works set in Britain from Old English Period to the Early Seventeenth Century and to familiarize them main literary genres and conventions through the study of extracts from the original texts as well as with the different periods of British culture and history. It is planned that the cultural atmosphere in Britain until the 17th century will be introduced to the students through such literary texts as epic, religious texts, poems, prose and dramatic texts. |

Course Contents | ||
In this course, literary texts from the Anglo-Saxon period, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance are examined. Within this context, the course discusses how Early English Literature reflects Anglo-Saxon culture, the characteristics of religious texts and plays from Medieval English Literature, and the main features of various poems and theater plays written during the Renaissance period. | ||
