Objectives of the Course
The goal of this course is to develop reading, understanding, summarizing, text analysis and discussion skills through a reading of literary and non-literary texts. Additionally, this course aims to prepare the students for reading literary texts that they will encounter in the following semesters and enable them to express their opinions in written forms.

The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 can show knowledge about the basics of academic reading and writing. PO-1 They acquire knowledge and skills about English grammar, English culture, English literature, the structure and education of the English language.
PO-2 They gain the ability to write, read and speak in English.
PO-7 They acquire the necessary equipment that will enable them to act as a bridge in intercultural communication and in the perception and interpretation of different cultures.
PO-10 They gain proficiency in reading and interpreting English texts.
PO-11 They gain competence in analyzing grammatical structures specific to English.
Examination

Course Contents
This course covers advanced reading abilities, with an emphasis on comprehending various points of view, connecting ideas within sentences, figuring out what a text's core idea is, and drawing conclusions from the context of the words that follow. To meet these goals, a variety of reading materials are used, including academic papers, reviews, newspapers, and periodicals. The course also places a strong emphasis on developing reading habits outside of the classroom. Advanced critical thinking assignments, such as information synthesis, problem solution, and evaluation response, will be given to the students. In addition, the course comprises exercises that are intended to improve writing abilities by using the knowledge that has been acquired from reading assignments.
