Objectives of the Course | |||||
The aim of this course is to give the students a general idea of the most important literary works set in Britain from Restoration Period to the 20th century and to familiarize them main literary genres and conventions through the study of extracts from the original texts as well as with the different periods of British culture and history. It is planned that the cultural atmosphere in Britain until the 20th century will be introduced to the students through such literary texts as epic, religious texts, poems, prose and dramatic texts. |

PO-1 They acquire knowledge and skills about English grammar, English culture, English literature, the structure and education of the English language. PO-13 In addition to information about the English language, literature, culture, society and history, the student can gain the ability to collect current issues and information about England from English sources and share them with the relevant person, institution and organization. PO-17 They gain awareness about looking at their own nation objectively by using knowledge in English language, literature and culture. PO-24 They gain knowledge about the process and development of English literature from its beginning to the present day. |

The main literary works studied in this course include Victorian, Romantic, Restoration, and 20th-century English literature. These eras' literary, political, social, and cultural traits are examined via the examination of works created in them. We take a comprehensive look at concepts like industrialization, scientific breakthroughs, imperialism, modernism, and postmodernism in England. | ||
