Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to enable the student to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies to observe how Modern English literature and literary genres developed from the 19th and 20th century and to interpret selected literary works in the light of these developments.

LO-3 can identify thematic and technical innovations in twentieth-century and contemporary English poetry in selected works. PO-9 They conduct research and analysis in the field of English language, literature, culture and history.

LO-4 can compare and contrast the political works of the 1930s with the Neo-Romanticism movement of the 1940s in terms of style and technique. PO-1 They acquire knowledge and skills about English grammar, English culture, English literature, the structure and education of the English language.

LO-5 can analyze the effects of Postmodernism in contemporary English poetry and evaluate and examine selections from the poems of poets such as T. Hughes and S. Heaney in this context. PO-2 They gain the ability to write, read and speak in English.

Course Contents
In this course, the modernism period, its history and literature are introduced, and information is given about Modern English history, culture and literature. Examples of writers and works from contemporary literature and Medieval English literature are examined.
