Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to enable the student to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies to examine the modernist elements in the novels of the period thematically and technically within the framework of the socio-cultural, political, historical and stylistic contexts of the 20th century British Modern Novel.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 can identify modernist themes and elements in the 20th century British novel. PO-9 They conduct research and analysis in the field of English language, literature, culture and history.
PO-20 They determine the learning needs of the employees under their responsibility and manage the learning processes.
PO-24 They gain knowledge about the process and development of English literature from its beginning to the present day.
PO-25 They gain advanced sensitivity and predisposition in the fields of language, culture and literature.
Examination
LO-2 can identify and discuss the technical changes used in the novels of this period. PO-7 They acquire the necessary equipment that will enable them to act as a bridge in intercultural communication and in the perception and interpretation of different cultures.
PO-8 They can participate in various social, cultural and artistic activities in the field of English and British culture and add new values to society based on the inferences they obtain as a result of these participations.
PO-24 They gain knowledge about the process and development of English literature from its beginning to the present day.
PO-25 They gain advanced sensitivity and predisposition in the fields of language, culture and literature.
Examination
LO-3 can interpret the ideas and views of the writers and thinkers of this period who had an impact on the birth and development of modernism. PO-17 They gain awareness about looking at their own nation objectively by using knowledge in English language, literature and culture.
PO-24 They gain knowledge about the process and development of English literature from its beginning to the present day.
PO-25 They gain advanced sensitivity and predisposition in the fields of language, culture and literature.
Examination
LO-4 can compare and discuss Modernist Novels with the English novels of the previous period. PO-17 They gain awareness about looking at their own nation objectively by using knowledge in English language, literature and culture.
PO-24 They gain knowledge about the process and development of English literature from its beginning to the present day.
PO-25 They gain advanced sensitivity and predisposition in the fields of language, culture and literature.
Examination
LO-5 can reveal the thematic and technical similarities and differences of Modernist Novels with the novels of other periods. PO-8 They can participate in various social, cultural and artistic activities in the field of English and British culture and add new values to society based on the inferences they obtain as a result of these participations.

Course Contents
In this course, the development of Modernism and the Modernist Novel is introduced, and the modernist themes and technical features prominent in Modernist novels are examined in various works in the light of the ideas of relevant writers, thinkers and theorists.
