Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to analyze scientific research methods, rise of modern science and the progress in scientific research.

Learning Outcomes PO MME
The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Explains basic structure and philosophies of scientific research[ PO-1 Develop and deepen their knowledge in the same or a different field at the level of expertise based on undergraduate level qualifications in the field.

LO-2 Realizes basic structure of scientific research process PO-1 Develop and deepen their knowledge in the same or a different field at the level of expertise based on undergraduate level qualifications in the field.

LO-3 Develops research questions about his/her area and tries to define problems PO-2 Understands the interdisciplinary interaction related to the field and conducts joint project with different disciplines.

Definition and purpose of science, Characteristics of scientific knowledge,Scientific knowledge and value systems, Rise of modern science and its progress, Methods in social sciences, Main research methods, Data generating methods, Measurement and test techniques.

1 Main concepts that are belong to scientific research: definition of science, scientific knowledge, phenomenon, concept, principle, law, and hypothesis. What is the research and how research process comes through. Discussion and Explaining
2 Review of roots and history of research methods. Discussion and Explaining
3 Data gathering process. Review of concepts of universe, sampling and variable. Instruction about methods that are used in education researches. Discussion and Explaining
4 Presentation of qualitative research design and basic main concepts. Determination of problems that can be improved by qualitative methods which are special to area. Discussion and Explaining
5 Presentation of qualitative research design and ways of data gathering, giving of how survey, observation form and measurement develop and important points. Discussion and Explaining
6 Introduction of qualitative research patterns and giving their differences. Discussion and Explaining
7 Introduction of sampling types in qualitative research and exemplification about qualitative samplings of problems that are special to area. Discussion and Explaining
