Objectives of the Course
The aim of the course ‘Religious Education and Basic Problems’ is to teach students the basic problems of religious education and solution strategies for these problems. Students will have knowledge about the history, theoretical foundations, pedagogical approaches and current problems of religious education and will gain the ability to cope with the problems encountered in religious education by learning how to apply this knowledge in practice.

The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Students understand the history and theoretical foundations of religious education. PO-1 Develop and deepen their knowledge in the same or a different field at the level of expertise based on undergraduate level qualifications in the field.
Examination
LO-2 Students develop and effectively use the materials used in religious education. PO-2 Understands the interdisciplinary interaction related to the field and conducts joint project with different disciplines.
PO-3 Uses the resources in the related field effectively based on undergraduate level qualifications.
PO-4 Uses research methods and techniques applied in the field, has theoretical and practical knowledge.
PO-5 Interpret, analyse and create new information by integrating the information obtained in the field with information from different disciplines.
Examination
LO-3 Students manage student-teacher relationships effectively. Students evaluate the effect of cultural and social factors on religious education. PO-6 Carry out a study that requires expertise in the field independently.
PO-7 Develop new approaches to solve complex and unpredictable problems encountered in applications related to the field.
PO-8 Lead in solving problems related to the field; organise personal, institutional and team work at the level of expertise.
Examination
LO-4 Students use technological tools and digital materials effectively in religious education. PO-10 Transfer the current developments and projects carried out in the field to the groups in and out of the field by supporting them with quantitative and qualitative data through appropriate communication tools.
PO-11 Communicate orally and in writing using a foreign language at the B2 level of the European Language Portfolio.
PO-12 Use information and communication technologies at an advanced level with computer software at the level required by the field.
PO-13 Collects, interprets, applies and announces the data related to the field, controls and explains these values by considering scientific, cultural, artistic, social and ethical values

Course Contents
This course covers the history, theoretical and pedagogical foundations, application methods and basic problems encountered in religious education. Topics such as materials used in religious education, teacher qualifications, student-teacher relations, ethical and moral problems in religious education, cultural and social influences are included in the course content. In addition, current problems encountered in religious education and solutions are also examined.
