Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to enable students to acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge about motivation and leadership in sport; and to gain the ability to effectively manage athlete performance and team dynamics by learning motivation strategies and leadership styles.

The students who succeeded in this course:
LO-1 Students identify key concepts and theories related to motivation and leadership in sport. PO-8 Gains knowledge in sports psychology, leadership, and motivation and can apply this knowledge while working with athletes.

LO-2 Students apply appropriate motivational strategies to improve athlete performance. PO-8 Gains knowledge in sports psychology, leadership, and motivation and can apply this knowledge while working with athletes.
PO-13 Acquires theoretical knowledge in sports management and organization and can apply it in the sports industry.

Course Contents
This course includes the definition, importance, and applicability of motivation in sport; intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors; the historical evolution of the concept of leadership, different leadership styles, and the role of leadership in the sports environment; methods to enhance athletes’ motivation; strategies for goal setting and developing self-efficacy; team communication processes, group cohesion, and the influence of the leader on the team; coping strategies for stress and anxiety in athletes and the leader’s role in these processes; and the principles of ethical leadership and the promotion of ethical behavior in sports contexts.
