INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES / SOSYAL BİLGİLER EĞİTİMİ (TEZLİ YÜKSEK LİSANS)

History

Social Studies Education Master's Program with thesis was established in Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Social Sciences Institute Turkish and Social Sciences Education Department in the 2017-2018 academic year and began accepting Master students. Medium of instruction is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

The students who successfully fulfill the program are given Master (Science Expert) diploma on the field of Social Studies Education.

Specific Admission Requirements

For the Master program, to have a Bachelors degree in the specified fields (graduation Point), ALES and foreign language test results are calculated and and number of candidates as specified in the anouncement are accepted as actual and substitute students. Documents needed for the registration; 1- Bachelor’s Diploam, 2- ALES Result. 3- Original ID Card 4 – Foreign Language Result (UDS, KPDS, YDS etc.) 5- Military Service Document. 6- CV


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

In the last four semesters before a student enrolled in the institute as a primary student, the courses he / she has taken as a primary or special student from any graduate program of any higher education institution, or the courses he / she has taken from graduate programs when he / she is an undergraduate student, and with the decision of the institute management can be transferred to the program.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To have at least 2.00 out of 4.00 to fulfill successfully all the courses existent in the program (Total 90-120 AKTS Credits).The students who successfully fulfill all the courses and has achieved a score of 70 out of 100 for graduation as well as presenting a thesisis in front of a jury with success are give Master Diploma (Science Expert) in the field of Social Studies Education.


Profile of The Programme

Our program consists of Academicians who are experts on their fields and the necessary studies are conducted in the lessons. The aim is to develop analysis, synthesis, and evaluation skills, to produce an original scientific study by using the research methods, and to transmit what he knows as an individual who carries all the responsibilities given by the law, to provide the success of the students in their working fields both in the private and govermental sectors and especially to have teachers in this field. Also to improve our students as experts in the field of Social Studies Education who are talented on both national and international levels.

PO-1 develop knowledge in Social Studies education field at a level of expertise
PO-2 comprehend interaction with Social Studies education field and related disciplines.
PO-3 use information in the field of Social Studies education
PO-4 form new information via integrating information of Social Studies education field with information in different discipline fields, suggest recommendations to problems with scientific research methods.
PO-5 realize the importance of Social Studies in educating individuals in accordance with a country\'s form of government.
PO-6 develop a solution method a problem in the field of Social Studies
PO-7 explain political, economic and cultural developments through Social Studies.
PO-8 develop new strategic approaches for unforeseen and complex circumstances which can be faced in Social Studies education fields, and formulate a solution by taking responsibility.
PO-9 evaluate information in the field of Social Studies critically
PO-10 examine social relationships and norms that direct relations with a critically review, develop these relations and act to change them in necessary situations.
PO-11 Comprehends the interaction between disciplines which contructs the Social Studies course
PO-12 Transfers curent developments and her/his studies about the Social Studies in written, oral and visual ways and in different levels
PO-13 Aquiring knowledge and skills on basic research methods in educational sciences

Graduates of this program can work as a lecturer in Social Studies Education departments of universities if they can get required score from foreign language exam etc. They can also have an academic career.


Access to Further Studies

Candidates who completed master education successfully can study in graduate programs provided that they have take current note from ALES and sufficient English language skills.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

In order to register for the course at the beginning of the semester and take the final exam for each student, it is necessary to continue at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the practices. Students are subjected to at least one midterm and final exam for each course.The midterm exams contribution 40% to success grade, final exams contribution 60% to success grade.All exams are evaluated over 100 points.Students who has received a letter grade (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) are considered successful from that course.Final exam are required to obtain at least 70 points.


Graduation Requirements

In order to successfully complete the program,(must take courses which take total of 120 ECTS and must be successful .) must obtain at least 70 (CC) mainly grade point average from 100 and must successfully complete a final thesis.

Facilities

The educational activities of the department are conducted by 2 professors, 3 assistant professors, 1 research assistants. Courses are taken in the classrooms which are equipped with devices all the electronics (computer and projector) in Education Faculty.
