The faculty of Art and Science at Nevsehir University was founded in 17 May, 2007 according to a law of 5662. First cycle in the department of Chemistry at Nevsehir University was started in the academic year of 2008-2009 and second cycle was started in 2010-2011 semester. Along with first cycle education, chemistry department is also offering evening classes. The education language of instructions is in Turkish. |
Those students who pass all the courses (total 240 ECTS) successively and have a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) of 2.00 over 4.00 can graduate from Department of Chemistry having a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc). |

Recognition of prior learning is at the beginning stage in the Turkish Higher Education System. For this reason, Nevsehir University and also the Department of Chemistry have not started to recognize the prior learning. However, exams of exemption are organized at the start of each term at the department of Chemistry for courses compulsory in the curriculum, such as Foreign Languages. The students who have completed the learning process for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum, and this grade is entered into the transcript of the student. |
The graduation requirements for the Department of Chemistry are the same as the qualification requirements and regulations. There is no additional requirement to secure the Bachelor's Degree provided that the students have passed all the courses in the curriculum (total 240 ECTS including all core courses and selective courses) and had a cumulative gross point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. |
The aim of chemistry department is to graduate chemists who are well aware of basics of chemistry and who have ability to implement his/her knowledge in every area of chemistry along with high qualifications. They will have interest in doing advanced research and will follow and easily adapt to new technologies. |

The graduates having BSc degree in chemistry have many opportunities of employment in a variety of state and private companies, such as, in chemical and pharmaceutical industry, medicine, agriculture and all other areas of chemistry. Besides, the chemistry major graduates can be an educator after meeting additional requirements for an education job. |

Each student must register for each course at the beginning of the each semester and attend at least 70% of the each lecture and 80% of each laboratory work in each semester in order to have the right to take the final exam of each theoretical/laboratory course. For each course, there are one midterm examination and one final examination at the end of each semester. The achievement grade of each course (theoretical and laboratory) is calculated by adding 40% of the midterm, 60% of the final grade for each course. All the exams are in 100 scales. Each student must take 45 out of 100 from the final exam to pass from the courses. |
Students should succeed and pass all the courses (total 240 ECTS) and obtain a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) of 2.00 over 4.00. |
