History

evşehir University ,Faculty of Science and Arts was founded in accordance with the law numbered 5662 and dated 17th of May 2007.Nevşehir University ,Faculty of Sciences and Arts, Department of Archaeology has begun undergraduate education in 2010-2011 academic year. Master education began in 2019-2020 academic year. Language of instruction is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

The students who successfully fulfill the program are given Master (Science Expert) diploma on the field of Archaeology.

Specific Admission Requirements

For the Master and PhD programs, to have a Bachelors degree in the specified fields (graduation Point), ALES and foreign language test results are calculated and and number of candidates as specified in the anouncement are accepted as actual and substitute students. Documents needed for the registration; 1 – Bachelor’s Diploam, 2 – ALES Result. 3 – Original ID Card 4 – Foreign Language Result ( ÜDS, KPDS etc.) 5 – Military Service Document. 6 - CV.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

The recognition of the previous learning is at the stage of beginning in the Turkish Educational institutions. For this reason, the recognition of the previous loearning has not been started in all the programs of Nevşehir HBV University.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To have at least 2.00 out of 4.00 to fulfill all the courses existent in the program (Total 120 AKTS Credits).The students who fulfill successfully all the courses and has achieved a score of 70 out of 100 for graduation as well as presenting a thesisis in front of a jury with success are give Master Diploma (Science Expert) in the field of Archaeology.


Profile of The Programme

Our program consists of Academicians who are experts on their fields and the necessary studies are conducted in the lessons.The aim is to develop analysis, synthesis, and evaluation skills, to produce an original scientific study by using then research methods, and to transmit what he knows as an individual who carries all the responsibilities given by the law. The wish is to provide the success of the students in their working fields both in the private and govermental sectors and especially to have teachers in this field. The study fields of our department are Classical Archaeology, Protohistory and Near Eastern Archaeology and Prehistory.


Key Learning Outcomes of the Programme

PO-1 Have the basic and updated knowledge of archaeology with combination of ethical rules.
PO-2 Able to interpret and evaluate of theoretical undergraduate knowledge of archaeology and practice this knowledge in the field. Also able to identify and analyze the problems and bring solutions which are based on research and evidences.
PO-3 Able to record the archaeological data in terms of visual and statement context with technological tools.
PO-4 Able to transfer of the professional knowledge and experience in the archaeology through oral and written communication in the national and international level.
PO-5 Able to professional work and join independently to the archaeological projects in national and international levels.
PO-6 Able to take professional responsibility to solve the problems encountered in archaeological work and projects in national and international levels.
PO-7 Able to plan and manage in archaeological works and projects within the framework of ethical principles in national and international levels.
PO-8 Able to transmit popular topics in archaeology to the community in national and international level with a professional vision.
PO-9 Able to take responsibility in archaeology about data collection, interpretation and publishing and act according to the rules of social, scientific and ethical values.
PO-10 Able to professional legislate in archaeology, to present and protect of the artifacts in museology, and cataloging in the scope of documentation.
PO-11 Able to work not only in the field but also in store and labs which evaluated the archaeological data in written and visual context.
PO-12 Able to identifying learning needs in archaeology and to take responsibility to protect cultural heritage. Also able to raise public awareness of cultural heritage within the context of broad vision and life-long learning system according to the rules of ethics.
PO-13 Able to bring different disciplines together in a meaningful manner in national and international archaeological studies in a professional level.
PO-14 Able to use at least one foreign language in archaeology to read up to date information and communicate with colleagues.
PO-15 Able to use information and communication technologies in a professional level.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who completed master education can study in graduate programs provided that they have take current note from ALES and sufficient English language skills.
