History

The M.A program of International Relations was founded in 2019-2020 in the Nevsehir HBV University. Our program continues its studies in Social Sciences Institute.


Qualification Awarded

The students who have successfully completed a minimum of credits from thought courses delivered within the graduate programme of the department and in related fields and prepared and successfully defended a thesis are given Master's Degree in International Relations.

Specific Admission Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in acceptable fields, Sufficient score from the National Academic Staff & Graduate Education Exam (70 ALES - Equally-weighted), English proficiency, The minimum necessary BA GPA score for applying to International Relations MA Program: 60/100.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

The decision of the Academic Council of the Department is valid in the recognition of prior learning. Foreigners who are graduates of foreign universities are required to present Turkish language credential drafted by TOMER.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To be able to secure the Master of science degree in the field of International Relations, the students are required to successfully complete all compulsory and optional courses (120 ECTS credits in total), have a GPA of at least 70 out of 100 and prepare a master thesis and submit and successfully defend with a passing grade.


Profile of The Programme

As a new dicipline international relations studies in strategic researches and academic studies. In this context our program continues regional studies and our students continue diciplinel studies, evaluate and solve problems in this area. Our students improve their analyze skills and they take selective English lessons.


Key Learning Outcomes of the Programme

PO-1 acquire intellectual infrastructure, which is necessary to make further research in the field of international relations.
PO-2 describe the basic facts and concepts of international relations and relate these to contemporary global issues.
PO-3 acquire necessary knowledge of law for professional substructure.
PO-4 communicate in written and spoken Turkish and to acquire necessary skills to be able to read and write in at least one foreign language.
PO-5 reach the information, in this regard to be able to make research, use databases and other sources
PO-6 comprehend the historical background of political issues and make analytical approaches towards future.
PO-7 deepen the knowledge about national and international institutions which determine the politics
PO-8 To acquire necessary knowledge of foreign language in order to use in academic and professional life

PO-12 become skilful at maths, econometrics and statistics, making more effective decisions with econometric and statistical analysis. Furthermore, they are capable of predicting the outcomes of these decisions and interpreting the cause and effect relation.
PO-13 To be able to share their field thoughts with experts and non-experts on the responsibilities for the environment they live in and organize projects/activities accordingly.
PO-14 To be able to discuss the political, social and economic causes and results of the transformations experienced in a society or a government.

Access to Further Studies

The students who have successfully graduated from the International Relations programme may apply to PhD programmes in the field of International Relations or other similar programmes, in case they passed the ALES and English Examination.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The examination, assessment and grading regulations have been set up for the university by the University Senate and the Department of International Relations is bound by these regulations. Each course is assessed via a midterm exam, a second mid-term exam composed of quizzes, homeworks and assignments, and a final end-of-term exam, with contributions of 30%, 20% and 50% respectively. The marking is made out of 100. Students taking one of the (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) letter grades from a course are considered successful. In order to pass the course, at least 70 over 100 are required.

In order to graduate from the program, it is necessary to take 120 ECTS courses and to be successful in these courses.

In International Relations Programme, the courses are carried out by 1 Professors, 2 Assoc. Professors and 4 Asst. Professors and fully equipped computer halls, projection machines, overhead projectors and slide machines are in service for the use of its students.
