Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates who will apply to the program must comply with the Graduate Education and Training Regulations issued by the Interuniversity Board and T.R. Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University must meet the general admission conditions determined in accordance with the Graduate Education and Examination Regulations. According to Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Graduate Education and Training Regulations, Section 8, Article 8, subparagraph 3b-ç, the candidates must have a bachelor's or master's degree in Archeology, and the score type of the program they apply from the ALES exam held centrally by ÖSYM. YDS / YÖKDİL exam must be at least 55 (valid for 5 years). For candidates applying to doctoral programs integrated with a four-year undergraduate diploma, their undergraduate graduation average should have a minimum of 3.00 or an equivalent score out of 4.00, and the ALES score to be determined by the senate, provided that it is not less than 60 points in the type of program they are applying from. required. As a foreign language score, national or international foreign language exams accepted as equivalent by YDS or Interuniversity Board are valid.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Successful students who have completed at least one semester in another department of the same institute at the university or in a graduate program affiliated with an equivalent institute of another higher education institution can be admitted to graduate programs through horizontal transfer. In order for a student's lateral transfer application to be accepted, a weighted grade point average of at least 75 from the courses he has registered until the application date, a compatibility between the graduate education program he is currently continuing and the program he wants to transfer in terms of courses and entry conditions, Faculty members and infrastructure facilities should be available. A student who wishes to transfer to a graduate program of the university; He applies to the relevant institute directorate at least three weeks before the start of the next semester's education, by attaching the documents that introduce the education program he/she is attending and the success status of the courses he/she is enrolled in to his/her petition. Director of the institution; It sends the application documents to the relevant department or the head of the main art branch and asks for the opinion of the department and, if this opinion is positive, the names of the courses that are deemed necessary for the student to adapt to the program. The opinions and suggestions of the department are reviewed by the Graduate School Administrative Board, and it is decided whether the student's request for lateral transfer is appropriate or not before the start of the education.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The duration of the Doctorate Program is eight semesters. However, students who have taken some of the courses of the program at the undergraduate level as special students in accordance with the 8th article of the EGE UNIVERSITY GRADUATE EDUCATION REGULATIONS and have been successful, and those who have completed their undergraduate education in a faculty with a normal duration of more than eight semesters, including the preparatory class, or who have completed their thesis more. Students who can complete their studies in a short time can complete their education in a shorter time with the reasoned recommendation of the relevant department and the decision of the Institute Administrative Board. Program; It consists of at least seven courses, not less than 21 local credits, proficiency exam, thesis proposal, thesis presentation and thesis defense. Master's courses consist of compulsory and elective courses. The total ECTS credits of the program is 240. In order for the student to take the exam for a course he is enrolled in, he must attend that course at least 70% and at least 80% of the practices. In addition to midterm and final exams, learning activities such as reports, assignments, quizzes, seminar presentations and project work can be used in the performance evaluation of the student during the semester. In order for the student to be considered successful in the relevant course, this grade must be at least 75 out of 100. The student can re-register for the courses he/she has failed, as well as take other graduate courses approved by his/her advisor.In addition, the advisor and the relevant institute can be selected from the courses offered in other higher education institutions with the recommendation of the department and the approval of the Institute Administrative Board. The institute determines how much of the courses taken from other higher education institutions can be counted as a minimum of 21 credits, provided that they do not exceed nine credits. Students who successfully complete their courses are taken to the proficiency exam. If he is successful in this exam, he presents his thesis proposal before the jury. He orally presents the progress and results of his thesis to the thesis monitoring commission in six-month periods. Seminar and thesis work are non-credit according to the local credit system and are evaluated as successful or unsuccessful. The student has to write the results of his thesis in accordance with the thesis writing rules of the relevant institute and defend his thesis orally in front of the jury. After the thesis exam is completed, the jury decides to accept, reject or correct the thesis with absolute majority. The student, whose thesis is decided to be corrected, defends his thesis again in front of the same jury by doing the necessary within six months at the latest. At the end of this defense, the registration of the student whose thesis is not accepted will be deleted.


Profile of The Programme

It is a graduate education program that has the skills to acquire the necessary information in the field of archeology and evaluate new findings. The Archeology Doctorate program covers a four-year education period. The student acquires knowledge by taking compulsory and elective courses in the first year. In the following years, he completes his doctoral thesis.

Students have to take midterm exams in order to complete their 21-credit courses in the first year. The continuation of the student is followed by the lecturer. The date and schedule of the midterm exams are announced within the first month of the semester. In addition to the midterm exam, a final exam is given for each course. The date and place of the final exams are also announced in the section. When calculating the success grade, it is calculated by taking 40% of the midterm exam grade and 60% of the final exam. Some faculty members also consider some other criteria (eg attendance, seminar presentation, written homework, etc.) while calculating the exam success grade. Students who successfully complete the courses in the first year continue their thesis studies in the following years.

Facilities

An average of 6 students are admitted to the doctoral program of the Department of Archeology per year. Courses are given by the academic staff of the department. Students have the opportunity to work in excavations, surveys and various research projects carried out by the faculty members of the Archeology Department, and have the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have learned in the lessons in practice.
