Qualification Awarded

Master contemporary knowledge about the discipline. Master both theoretical and practical contemporary knowledge on primary education and improve and depeen their knowledge. Understand the connection among different diciplines in primary education field. Utilise their theoretical knowledge on primary education. Generate new information and by combining the knowledge basis of different disciplines and the field of primary education and provide solutions to problems. Use informatics and communication technologies in their academic and professional work in primary education field. Create a research design, an evaluation system for a problem in primary education research area. Work independently and/or cooperatively on scientific and professional projects. Evaluate knowledge related to the field of study critically. Use effective teaching strategies to help their students gain knowledge and skills regarding primary education. Improve themselves and practice life long learning. Present their studies and current developments in primary education field to the people in and out of the field in writting, orally, and visually systematic way. Share information and research findings on primary education on national and international level through papers and oral presentation. Evaluate strategies, policies and applications and their results on primary education. Conduct studies on the basis of scientifically and ethically values. Apply the knowledge on the field of study in interdisciplinary studies. Evaluate current developments in the light of national values and facts.


Level of Qualification

Based upon the bachelor level qualifications; demonstrate, enhance and deepen theoritical and applied knowledge about educational sciences at specialist level. Discuss the interdisciplinary interaction within their field of study. Apply, enhance and deepen the theoretical and applied knowledge at the specialist level which they have acquired in their field of study. Produce new information by operationally unifying the information in their field of study and the multidisciplinary information. Suggest solutions to the problems necessitating specialization by using quantitative and qualitative scientific research methods. Fictionalize, develop solutions to and solve a problem in the field of study; evaluate the results and applies them when necessary. Develop new strategic approaches and develop solutions by taking responsibility in unforeseen complicated circumstances experienced in the practices of the field. Actively participate in or lead the teamwork related to their own field. Evaluate the information related to their field of study critically and monitor learning. Carry out their studies within the framework for lifelong learning. Systematically communicate developments in the field and their own studies to the groups in and outside their field of study through written, oral and visual presentations. Develop plans of strategy, politics and practice about topics of their field and then evaluate the obtained results within the framework of quality processes.

Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Depending on the degrees awarded, theoretical or practical courses taken as part of a degree (completed or not completed) may lead to recognition of these as prior learning by the programme administration. The students who have taken courses in another institution in Turkey or abroad can ask for credit and grade transfer. The executive boards of relevant programme will decide on the courses to be transferred covering students' entire academic program once and for all with the condition that the request for transfer be made within the first week of the academic year, the requests cannot be repeated.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

A student is required to successfully complete a minimum of 8 courses, not less than 60 ECTS credits, take the required Seminar and the Field Specialization courses and write and defend a Master’s Thesis, have a minimum GPA of 70/100 and no letter grades lower than CC, BL and no YZ, DZ grades.

The general purpose of Master's programme in Primary Education is to provide knowledge, skills and attitudes to graduate students to help them specialize in their field and to support them to conduct theoretical and applied research studies.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Each student have to enroll the courses at the beginning of the terms and they have to attend at least 70% of courses to take final exams. Students have to take at least one midterm exam and a final exam for each course. Midterm exams constitute 40% (assessment and evaluation instruments such as homework, laboratory exam and quiz can be evaluated as the midterm grade) and final exams %60 of the final grade. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students must have a GPA of at least 70 (CC) in order to pass a course.


Graduation Requirements

These are required to successfully complete the program: pass all the courses are available on the program (120 ECTS), obtain at least 70 weighted GPA of 100 and successfully complete a master thesis.
