TOURISM RESEARCH INSTITUTE / TURİZM REHBERLİĞİ (TEZSİZ YÜKSEK LİSANS)

History

Turkey's first Tourism Research Institute within the Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University was founded on May 18, 2018 with the Act numbered 30431. The Master of Science in Tourism Guideing program at Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University Institute of Tourism Research began formally in Fall 2018. The medium of instruction is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

The Master of Science Degree in Tourism Guiding is awarded to students who successfully completed all courses in the curriculum (a total of 60 ECTS credits) and have obtained a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale. Students must also prepare a a term project and pass the final oral examination.

Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of prior learning is carried out according to the regulations set by the Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University Institute of Social Sciences. The students, who have successfully completed courses as a registered graduate student at a different institution in their previous four semesters, can apply for recognition of prior learning. The recognition is determined by the Institute Board.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

To be graduated from this program, students must successfully complete the core and elective courses (a total of 60ECTS credits) in the curriculum. After completion of the courses, students must prepare a master’s thesis and pass the final oral examination. The final oral examination focuses on the defense of the therm project.


Profile of The Programme

The Master of Science in Tourism Guiding degree program has two main objectives. The first aim of the program is to educate the tourist guide candidates who can provide quality service at the regional and national level with the required qualifications. The other aim of the program is to enable the student to gain the ability of accessing, evaluating and interpreting information by doing scientific research.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Students who graduate from the program have a tourist guide license when they fulfill the other necessary conditions. Graduates are employed as tourist guides.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

There are one midterm and one final exam in every term for each lesson. Each exam’s contribution of succeed point is the weighted average of midterm exam (%40) and final exam (%60). Top point for every exam is 100. Students who have AA, BA, BB, CB, CC letter marks are counted as successful.


Graduation Requirements

To complete the programme successfully the students who educated in master programme with thesis must have at least 12 lessons equal to at least 60 ECTS and a therm project. Students who failed one of these conditions are expelled from the institute in following four terms.

Facilities

Education activities of department are maintained with1 professor, 3 associate professors and 5 assistant professors. The lesson’s are also maintained in classes that have 25-50 people capacity and have projection equipment. Department students can benefit from the library and computer lab which are all day opened freely.
