History

The Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Science and Arts at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University was founded in May, 17, 2007.


Qualification Awarded

Bachelor's degree diplomas are given to students who successfully complete the courses.

Specific Admission Requirements

Having a high school diploma and be eligible to register to our department as a result of examinations made ​​by ÖSYM.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of prior learning in Turkish higher education institutions are still in progress. Therefore, recognition of prior learning in Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University has not been fully accomplished. However, exemption exams from such lessons as Computer Sciences and English are held at the beginning of every academic year. Students who consider themselves capable of meeting the learning outcomes of such lessons are welcome to take the exemption test. Those who have passed the exemption test are exempt from the relevant lesson.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Successfully complete all courses available in the program (a total of 240 ECTS) and to have at least 2.00 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average .


Profile of The Programme

The department has four year of education. Department's education program is designed to educate contemporary mathematicians who are able to follow the the current mathematical developments.

PO-1 Have the ability to conceptualize the events and facts related to the field of mathematics such as Analysis, Geometry and Algebra with the help of the scientific methods and techniques and can define these concepts.
PO-2 Have the knowledge to critize, analyze, and evaluate the correctness, reliability, and validity of mathematical data.
PO-3 Define the some models of mathematical problems, evaluate with a critical approach, analyze with theoretical and applied knowledge.
PO-4 Analytically use the interdisciplinary approach at learning process.
PO-5 Develop suitable material for a subject on a mathematical area, to use the knowledge and experience gains with different methods
PO-6 Have the ability to know himself as an individual; to use his creative and strong sides, build personal and institutional communication.
PO-7 Have the knowledge to determine the needs related to his area and to direct his learning and use exclusively computer technologies with software.
PO-8 Learn the life-long learning and quality management processes and apply them, attend social, cultural and artistic events on his field.
PO-9 Develop vocational projects and activities and apply them.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduates can be assigned to public schools as a mathematics teacher by the Ministry of Education if they have the required score from the KPSS and certificate of pedagogical formation. They may have various positions in the computer industry.Graduate students who attend graduate classes at universities can work as a lecturer or researcher in various institutions.


Access to Further Studies

Upon successful completion of undergraduate courses, having the necessary score on the current ALES and providing that they have sufficient English language skills, candidates can attend to master - doctoral classes.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Students are subjected to midterm and final exam for each course.The contribution of the midterm exam is 40% and final exam is 60%. All examinations are evaluated out of 100 points. It is necessary to obtain at least 50 points on the final exam. On one course students who gets one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) considered as successful. Students who fail will take lessons again, no make-up exams.


Graduation Requirements

Successfully complete all courses available in the program (a total of 240 ECTS) and to have at least 2.00 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average .
