FACULTY OF ECONOMICS & ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCES / BANKING AND FINANCE

History

Nevşehir University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, including Business Administration, Economics and International Relations Departments founded as an unit of Erciyes University depending on the decision of the Council of Ministers, dated 01.09.1997, published in the Official Gazette dated 03.09.1997. Our faculty has been connected to the Rectorate of the University of Nevşehir which was established by Law No. 5662 that came into force upon Official Gazette No. 26536, date 29.05.2007 publication. Our Faculty’s Department of Banking and Finance has been established 2015. academic year. Language of Education is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

Students complete the program courses (a total of 240 ECTS) with an average at least 2.0 weighted grade of 4.00 are eligible for Bachelor's Degree on banking and finance.

Specific Admission Requirements

High school graduates who want to see education and training in Turkish universities are required to take enough points from YGS (Transition to Higher Education Examination) and LYS (Undergraduate Placement Examination) exams. Placements according to the preference of students are maintained by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). Students who gain the right to register Nevşehir University, Department of Finance and Banking must register between the dates indicated by providing documents required from the home page of university. In admission of students from abroad, criteria set by OSYM and quotas allocated by the university will be taken into account.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition process of prior learning by Turkish higher education is at an early stage yet. Therefore, recognition of prior learning is not fully initialized in all programs of the University of Nevşehir. However, exemption exam is held at the beginning of each academic semester for computer programs and English courses. Students who are considering the expected learning outcomes satisfied has the right to entry to the exams. Those who pass the exam are exempt from the related course.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to obtain a bachelor's degree in Finance and Banking program, students must take compulsory and elective courses (for a total of 240 ECTS) and successfully complete all courses with a weighted avarage at least 2.00 of 4.00.


Profile of The Programme

The objective of the program is to prepare the students giving them contemporary business knowledge for making scientific researches, reaching new information, assessing the knowledge, interpreting and producing original knowledge, and thus having important tasks and responsibilities in the management of institutions which have great impacts on the society and business life. The department of Finance and Banking carries out its internal and external activities by means of deanship and rectorship as supreme institution. The department trains the students so as to work in many fields especially in the public and private sector. The stakeholders of the department are SPK (the capital market board), Borsa Istanbul, Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, banks, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Finance, Universities, Research Institutes and Institutes. The department of Finance and Banking gives higher education to the students with qualified academic staff. In this department, the projects supported by BAP and TUBITAK are carried out.


Key Learning Outcomes of the Programme

PO-1 Have knowledge of basic information, usage, evaluation, and making comments about business finance, of analyzing the economic, social, and financial developments, of understanding financial systems, financial planning, and of interpretation of financial statements belonging to firms.
PO-2 Understand and explain the basic concepts in various fields of finance like banking, foreign trade, factoring, leasing operations, financial markets, and stock exchange operations, risk management, credit management, and corporate finance.
PO-3 Have sufficient knowledge about performing financial management functions (analysis, planning/budgeting, investment, financing, and auditing), preparing investment projects, evaluating, managing, and developing investment strategies.
PO-4 Recognizes the financial market (money and capital markets) tools, can create portfolios that will provide the highest return at a certain risk level and manage these portfolios.
PO-5 Have sufficient knowledge about national/international financial markets and institutions and can follow the changes and innovations in these areas.
PO-6 Have the necessary knowledge about financial / banking products and services and marketing of these products and services.
PO-7 Gains and can use theoretical knowledge about the importance and scope of accounting for businesses, basic accounting concepts, financial ratios, and charts of businesses.
PO-8 Students successfully graduating from this department; 1. have advanced knowledge about the basic concepts of business administration, the basic functions of the business management science, the historical development of it, its relationships with other disciplines, businesses and the environment, business objectives, feasibility studies, business functions, cooperation between firms and entrepreneurship, and apply them and make administrative decisions on these issues.
PO-9 Analyze and design at the organizational level, understand the functions of business management that are planning, organizing, execution, coordination and control, describe and apply them, and be acknowledged about modern management techniques
PO-10 Have the ability to explain and analyze.processes, theories and concepts related to business management, strategic management, human resource management, organizational behavior, entrepreneurship and ethics.
PO-11 Have advanced level of knowledge on new concepts, techniques, and applications emerged in recent years in the field of organizational behaviour along with topics such as human and human behaviour in organizations, perception, attitude and personality.
PO-12 Understand and comprehend market research, information systems, consumer behaviors, strategic marketing, global markets, product and service strategies, product life curve, pricing and supply chain in the points of providing continuity of businesses in the process of globalization.
PO-13 Become skilful at maths, econometrics and statistics, making more effective decisions with econometric and statistical analysis. Furthermore, they are capable of predicting the outcomes of these decisions and interpreting the cause and effect relation.
PO-14 Have the ability on considering the basic items of money, banking, and financial systems and the treatment process of these items.
PO-15 Gains knowledge of basic concepts and economic indicators in economic issues.
PO-16 Have the theoretical and practical level of knowledge necessary to analyze how decision units, consumers, and companies in an economy make decisions and how they affect each other in the market.
PO-17 Have basic information about the rules of economic relations between individuals, markets, and countries.
PO-18 In addition to basic law knowledge, she/he has a minimum level of knowledge of the law of obligations, commercial law, insurance law, capital market law, and the law of commercial paper.
PO-19 Uses contemporary methods and technologies of business administration, especially information technologies and analytical thinking.
PO-20 Have lifelong learning behavior, high communication skills, initiative, the ability of analytical and critical thinking and solving the problem and tend to teamwork and to able to use Turkish and Professional foreign language in written and oral communication to own expression and represent institutions
PO-21 Use research methods and techniques for doing scientific research.
PO-22 Have knowledge about the basic properties of Atatürk’s principles and history of Turkish revolution and Turkish language.
PO-23 Develops his/her skills in art and sports.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Each student have to enroll the courses at the beginning of the terms and they have to attend at least 70% of courses to take final exams.Students have to take at least one midterm exam and a final exam for each course. Midterm exams constitute 40% ( assessment and evaluation instruments such as homework, laboratory exam and quiz can be evaluated as the midterm grade) and final exams %60 of the final grade. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Final exam are required to get at least 45 points. Students who get one of the letter grades of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) ve (CC) are considered to have managed the course.(DC) and (DD) are the conditional success grades. Students must have a GPA of at least 2.0 in order to pass a course that they get (DC) and (DD) grades.


Graduation Requirements

These are required to successfully complete the program: pass all the courses are available on the program (240 ECTS equivalent), obtain at least 2.0 weighted GPA of 4.0 and successfully complete a thesis or internship.
