Information Of Programmes

VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF HACI BEKTAŞ VELİ / ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

History

Electronic Communications Technology programme which is affiliated to Department of Electronic and Automation has begun Associate’s Degree education in the academic year of 2009-2010. The language of education is the mother tongue Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

The students, who achieve all the courses in the program (equivalent to 120 ECTS in total) and who get at least 2.0 Great Point Average (GPA) over 4.00 in total, are awarded an Associate’s Degree certificate in the field of Electronic Communications Technology programme.

Specific Admission Requirements

The students, who graduated from the relevant department of Vocational High Schools and came in free from the Vocational exam or who graduated from Public Schools and got the relevant mark of the student selection and Placement System and were placed by the Student Selection and Placement Center, are accepted for the Electronic Communications Technology programme.


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

The process of the recognition of prior learning in Turkish Higher Education Institutions is at starting point. So, the recognition of prior learning has not completely started yet in any programmes of Nevşehir University. However; some exemption exams are applied for some lessons such as Computer Technology or English at the beginning of both academic terms. The students who regard themselves as having the learning outcomes of these lessons can take the exams. And, the students who achieve these exams are exempted from these lessons.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The students are required to achieve all of both compulsory and elective courses (equivalent to 120 ECTS in total) and to get at least 2.0 Great Point Average (GPA) over 4.00 in total and to complete the training period of 30 work days in order to be able to get Associate’s Degree in the Field of Electronic Communications Technology programme.


Profile of The Programme

The aim of this program is to train technicians who are high qualified, thinking analytically, intended for development and innovation, internalizing the principle of lifelong learning and regarding national values in the field of electronic communications technology in social life and business world. Electronic Communications Technology programme carries out its inner or outer activities and Works through the Management and the Rectorate as a higher institution. The Electronic Communications Technology programme trains the students to be employed in the work areas of Electronic Communications Technology. Our programme tries to teach the students perfectly with all the teaching staff of the school. Our programme aims to realize the European Projects and provide the students with a positive atmosphere for learning or studying through these projects. The courses of the programme are presented efficiently enough for the students to become employed easily or to make the students, who pass to undergraduate programmes, adapt easily.


Key Learning Outcomes of the Programme

PO-1 Have knowledge about foundation of the Republic of Turkey and Ataturk’s Principles and Reforms.
PO-2 Comprehend the structural properties of Turkish language, communicate effectively using Turkish language and improve the skills of researching, reading and getting informed.
PO-3 Pursue the improvements in the field of electronic communications technology using a foreign language and communicate with colleagues both domestically and abroad.
PO-4 Comprehend the basic laws of physics, continuous-time and discrete-time signals, achieve the ability of applying circuit laws used in electromagnetic field theory.
PO-5 Have sufficient knowledge related to basic mathematics and make mathematical calculation, analysis and evaluation related to communication.
PO-6 Have knowledge about an operating system and computer hardware, use basic office software and internet.
PO-7 Comprehend algorithm logic and structure of a programming language.
PO-8 Perform drawings of vocational plans and projects and simulate electric/electronic circuits using packet programs related to computer aided design.
PO-9 be conscious of project management, workplace practices, occupational safety, worker health, and environmental protection, realize system maintenance, system repair and system installation using modern technical tools and materials.
PO-10 Define basic concepts related to direct current and alternative current, analyze direct and alternative current response of passive circuit elements.
PO-11 Perform digital circuit design using digital electronics circuit elements.
PO-12 Have knowledge about structure and properties of semiconductor materials, comprehend structure, properties, operating principles and types of analog electronics circuit elements.
PO-13 Analyze a system, a system component or a system process in the field of electronic communications system and implement modern design methods if necessary.
PO-14 Have knowledge about programming and hardware structure of microprocessors and microcontrollers, realize microprocessor or microcontroller based advanced implementations.
PO-15 Have knowledge about rectifiers, converters, inverters, sensors, transducers, direct current and alternative current electrical motor drivers.
PO-16 Comprehend the formation of bioelectric signals, achieve the ability of using knowledge processing techniques utilized for diagnosing diseases.
PO-17 Comprehend the importance of renewable energy sources, analyze them in terms of global cumulative installed power capacity.
PO-18 Have knowledge about computer networks and network topologies, manage computers using a network operating system.
PO-19 Have knowledge about structure, properties and operating principle of telephone set, recognize systems between subscriber and switchboard taken part in telephone network.
PO-20 Recognize noise sources in a communication system, implement modulation and demodulation techniques used in analog and digital communication.
PO-21 Have knowledge about emerging communications technologies and microwave technology.
PO-22 Recognize fiber optic cable features and materials used in fiber optic communication, comprehend principles, advantages and application areas of fiber optic communication.
PO-23 Achieve the ability of realizing transmitters and receivers of RF, TV and radio systems.
PO-24 Achieve the knowledge and the ability related to satellite communications and cellular communications.
PO-25 Achieve the ability of designing experiment, making experiment, collecting data, analyzing the results, evaluation and making teamwork.
PO-26 Present the knowledge and the ability to other people and institutions using information technologies, use oral and written communication facilities and act within the framework of vocational ethics.

NQF-HETR Program Outcomes Matrices

The students who will graduate from this programme, will have the knowledge and skills related to electronic communications technology in different courses (Analog Communication, Telephone Communication and Switching Systems, Digital Communication, RF Technique, Fiber Optic Communication, Satellite Communications and Cellular Communications, etc.) that they take during their two-year education. The students will have employment opportunities in the departments of telephone, radio, television, internet, radar, satellite, etc. of public and private sectors in both domestically and abroad.


Access to Further Studies

The students, who achieve this programme, can make vertical transfer to Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Communication Teaching, Computer and Education Technologies Teaching, Media and Communication Systems, Aerospace Electric and Electronics Engineering Undergraduate Programmes if they pass the Vertical Transfer Exam which is held by the Student Selection and Placement Center.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

All the students have to register for the courses at the beginning of each term, and have to join at least % 70 of all the courses and % 80 of all the practices in order to be able to have final exams. The students have at least 1 mid- term exam and final exam for each course. The mid- term exam (We can asses homework’s, lab. exams, quizzes, etc. for the mid- term exam grading) contributes %40 and the final exam contributes %60 to total grade. All the exams are assessed over 100 scoring system. A student have to get at least 45 points in the final exam, and the students who get one of the letter marks such as (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB), and (CC) are accepted to achieve the course. The letter marks such as (DC) AND (DD) mean conditionally successful. Moreover, a student is required to get at least 2.0 Great Point Average (GPA) in order to be successful in the course whose work is (DC) or (DD).

The students are required to pass all the courses in the programme (equivalent to 120 ECTS in total), to get at least 2.0 Great Point Average (GPA) over 4.00 in total, and to complete the training period of 30 workdays in order to be able to achieve the programme.

Facilities

There is 1 lecturer in our programme. The courses in the programme curriculum are carried out in a digital systems lab., a circuits lab., 3 computer labs., 7 full equipped classrooms and a lecture room. The students of our programme can make use of free Internet in the labs and can go to library during the whole day.
