Information Of Programmes

VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF NEVŞEHİR / PUBLIC RELATIONS AND PUBLICITY

History

Nevsehir University Vocational School is a two year degree institution with 7500 m2 indoor area, 13 classrooms, 4 laboratory and 6 workshops. Public Relations and Publicity Program started education semester in 2018-2019. Medium of instruction is Turkish.


Qualification Awarded

Students who have accomplished all the courses (equal to 120 ECTS) and have a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 are given an associate degree diploma in Public Relations and Publicity

Specific Admission Requirements

The students send their preference forms to the student selection and placement center (ÖSYM) by sorting the department preferences they can enter according to their scores as a result of the exam. ÖSYM receives all applications, groups the applications according to the score type, sorts the scores from the highest to the lowest, lists all available programs according to the preferred score type and places the students in one of their preferred programs. The selection of foreign students who will enter the universities in our country is made within a certain quota according to a central exam called the Foreign Student Exam (YÖS).


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

An exemption exam is held at the beginning of the academic year for the Foreign Language courses included in the education plans of the programs. Students who are successful in the exam are exempt from the related course in the curriculum.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The students are required to achieve all of both compulsory and elective courses ( equivalent to 120 ECTS in total ) and to get at least 2.0 Great Point Average ( GPA ) over 4.00 in total and to complete the training period of 30 work days in order to be able to get Associate’s Degree in the department of Public Relations and Publicity Programming.


Profile of The Programme

The aim of the Public Relations and Publicity Program is to train intermediate staff who are qualified, well-educated, have ethical values and national values, are skilled, skilled in solving internal and external communication problems, knowledgeable about mass media, and can use new technologies in individual and group studies.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Our graduates can work in public and private sector in all public relations and publicity businesses. They can find opportunities to work in advertising agencies, public relations companies, media planning and purchasing companies, and advertising and public relations departments of businesses. In addition, if they get the required score from KPSS, they can be appointed as civil servants in public institutions.


Access to Further Studies

Students who successfully complete their associate degree education can enter the vertical transfer exam and, if they are placed in the undergraduate program approved by the Student Selection and Placement Center, they can study in the undergraduate programs.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Each student is required to register on the predetermined dates in the academic calendar. In order to be able to take the final exams, at least 70% of the courses must be continued at least 80% of the applications. Students are subjected to at least 1 midterm and final exam for each course. The contribution to mid-term exams is 40%, the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Students who get one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) from a course are considered successful in that course. (DC) and (DD) grades are conditional successful grades. In order for the student to be successful in a course with a DC or DD grade, the GPA must be at least 2.0.


Graduation Requirements

In order to complete the program successfully, it is necessary to pass all the courses (120 ECTS equivalent) available in the program, to obtain a GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.00 and to complete the internship successfully.

Facilities

There are 1 Associate Professor and 2 Lecturers in our department. Lessons are carried out in classrooms, computer laboratories and photography studios. There is also a conference room where various events can be held.
