FACULTY OF ECONOMICS & ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCES / BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

History

Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences was founded in 1997 belonging to Erciyes University. The department of Business started its formal education in 1998-1999 academic years and in 2008-2009 academic years it also started its evening education. The faculty was connected to Nevşehir University in 2007 and the language of education of the department is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

In our country, it is necessary to be successful in OYS (student placement examination) in order to study in a university. For Turkish Citizens, the attendance to undergraduate programs is only dependent on this exam results. The foreign students are also accepted with limited quota according to YOS results (foreign student examination). Specific Admission Requirements: 1-High school diploma 2-The Student Placement Examination Result (OYS)


Specific Arrangement For Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of previous structured lectures in Turkish Higher Education Institutions, transitions in vertical, horizontal and university are realized within the scope of the "Higher Education Regulations", "REGULATION BETWEEN THE BACHELORS AND GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMS, ON HIGHER EDUCATION AND TRANSITION BETWEEN DOUBLE MAJOR DALL, SIDE DALL AND CREDIT TRANSFER STANDARDS. Moreover, in the beginning period of each term, proficiency exams are done for the lessons like Computer and English listed in education programme. Students who believed to have learning outputs of these lessons can attend proficiency exams. If they succeed in this exam, they become exempt for these lessons.


Qualification Requirements and Regulations

In order to graduate from this department and earn the “Business Administrative” degree, the students have to complete all the lessons successfully with at least 240 ECTS or they have to get at least 2.0 cumulative grade point average from 4.00 gpa.


Profile of The Programme

The objective of the program is to prepare the students giving them contemporary business knowledge for making scientific researches, reaching new information, assessing the knowledge, interpreting and producing original knowledge, and thus having important tasks and responsibilities in the management of institutions which have great impacts on the society and business life. The department of Business carries out its internal and external activities by means of deanship and rectorship as supreme institution. The department trains the students so as to work in many fields especially in the public and private sector. The stakeholders of the department are SPK (the capital market board), DPT (state planning organization), Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Finance, Universities, Research Institutes and Institutes. The Business Department gives higher education to the students with qualified academic staff. In this department, the projects supported by BAP and TUBITAK are carried out.


Key Learning Outcomes of the Programme

PO-1 Students successfully graduating from this department; 1. have advanced knowledge about the basic concepts of business administration, the basic functions of the business management science, the historical development of it, its relationships with other disciplines, businesses and the environment, business objectives, feasibility studies, business functions, cooperation between firms and entrepreneurship, and apply them and make administrative decisions on these issues.
PO-2 analyze and design at the organizational level, understand the functions of business management that are planning, organizing, execution, coordination and control, describe and apply them, and be acknowledged about modern management techniques.
PO-3 have information about the basic concepts of strategic management, strategic management process and strategic analysis and strategy selection, implementation and control strategies.
PO-4 have advanced level of knowledge on topics such as job analysis, provision and assigning of human resources, career, performance evaluation and performance-based pricing which are within the scope of human resources management applications that are encountered in both public and private sector.
PO-5 have advanced level of knowledge on new concepts, techniques, and applications emerged in recent years in the field of organizational behaviour along with topics such as human and human behaviour in organizations, perception, attitude and personality.
PO-6 have the importance of accounting in terms of firms, its extent, basic accounting concepts, theoretical knowledge on financial ratios and charts and they can use these datum.
PO-7 comprehend the basic principles and techniques of cost accounting and have information about cost accounts in uniform chart of accounts.
PO-8 have knowledge and skills intended for teoric and practice on ethics, legislative framework, auditing standarts and deception by having information about basic audit principles and techniques and reporting the audits issues.
PO-9 have knowledge of basic information, usage, evaluation and making comment about business finance, of analyzing the economic, social and financial developments, of understanding of financial systems, of financial planning and of interpretation of financial statements belonging to firms.
PO-10 comprehend the market developments , follow and comment on them, while having the knowledge of capital market and new financial techniques.
PO-11 Understand and comprehend market research, information systems, consumer behaviors, strategic marketing, global markets, product and service strategies, product life curve, pricing and supply chain in the points of providing continuity of businesses in the process of globalization.
PO-12 become skilful at maths, econometrics and statistics, making more effective decisions with econometric and statistical analysis. Furthermore, they are capable of predicting the outcomes of these decisions and interpreting the cause and effect relation.
PO-13 It helps the students model their decision-making problem about life using the linear programming techniques, solve the simplex and transportation problems and interpret the outcomes in terms of technical and economical.
PO-14 have knowledge of new approaches used in production, fundamentals of production management, production systems, distribution planning and break-even analysis, installation placement and production planning.
PO-15 Comprehend legal, social and moral responsibilities of business life. Will have a basic knowledge of the areas of obligations law, negotiable instruments law, business concerns law, tax law, civil law, labor and social security law.
PO-16 have information about management information systems and IT applications used in the fields of business and accounting practices, and acquire skills of using the necessary software.
PO-17 Use modern methods and technologies of business administration including analytical thinking and information technology in the first instance.
PO-18 Have the ability to work with disciplinary and interdisciplinary teams; to be open to change and innovation, to be entrepreneur, to gain life-long learning; to have leadership qualities and to make analytical communication with managers and specialists in other fields.
PO-19 Establish effective communication, oral and written; at least one foreign language in general use at the level of the European language portfolio B1.
PO-20 Use research methods and techniques for writing a thesis or doing scientific research.
PO-21 Have detailed knowledge of geography and culture as well as the historical of Turkey and the world.

Job opportunities of our graduates can be arranged like that: Banks,private sector enterprises, high-ranking staffs of public bureaucracy such as the treasury, state planning organization, ministry of industry and commerce and ministry of labour and other official duty positions. Also, gradutes of this programme can set up their own businesses as an interventional activity.


Access to Further Studies

Candidates who finished undergraduate education successfully can receive education at postgraduate programs providing that they have sufficient marks from ALES exam and have adequately English.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Each student have to enroll the courses at the beginning of the terms and they have to attend at least 70% of courses to take final exams.Students have to take at least one midterm exam and a final exam for each course. Midterm exams constitute 40% ( assessment and evaluation instruments such as homework, laboratory exam and quiz can be evaluated as the midterm grade) and final exams %60 of the final grade. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Final exam are required to get at least 45 points. Students who get one of the letter grades of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) ve (CC) are considered to have managed the course.(DC) and (DD) are the conditional success grades. Students must have a GPA of at least 2.0 in order to pass a course that they get (DC) and (DD) grades.


Graduation Requirements

These are required to successfully complete the program: pass all the courses are available on the program (240 ECTS equivalent), obtain at least 2.0 weighted GPA of 4.0 and successfully complete a thesis or internship.

Facilities

The academic activities of the business department are carried out with 2 professors, 8 associate professors, 3 assistant professors, 7 research assistants and 1 instructor. Educational and training activities of the department are performe professorsd in 2 classrooms for 100 person, 3 classrooms for 75 person and other 10 classroom for 50 person. All classrooms have projection devices and also there is a student computer lab with internet connection and a student canteen. In addition to that, the faculty of economics and administrative sciences has the wireless internet connection opportunity.
